Daily Deviation and StuffSo I noticed that one of my deviation's has gotten a large amount of attention lately. Apparently dA has a new tool where you can insert emotes into comments. My frontflip emote has been getting used daily, and I've lost count out of how many comments people have used it in as well as some of my other emotes. I haven't been as active in the dA community for several years as I used to be. No one will probably read this anyway. If you do however, it would be much obliged if someone could submit a Daily Deviation recommendation for my emote for me. It would be nice to get at least one DD in my life, but it's not the end of the world if it never happens.
I've got a lot of things going for me now. I've got big name models coming running to me for my photography work (my best work isn't posted here on dA). I'm excited for this. One of these shoots will be this with an internationally reknown and published model who came to me. I personally though she was out of my league on a professional le

Thank you so much!
Anime NEXT 2013Going to be there? Want your photos taken by me? Let me know now! Serious inquires only. I already have 3-4 shoots booked, so contact me asap! My best work isn't on here, but you can see some of the photos from last years AN here on my dA page. I only have a limited time until I'm fully booked up, so get your shots in asap!!
Breast Cancer Awareness Photoshoots for this Oct.October is fast approaching...which means Breast Cancer Awareness month. I want to do PINK themed photoshoots for that month. (Not all of my shoots will be Pink, I'm still doing normal shoots during this time as well.) Meaning shoots with a lot of pink in color. ANY and ALL proceeds or earnings/income will be donated directly to the Susan G. Komen foundation for breast cancer.
Want to jump in on this project? Note me! The more people who take part hopefully the more powerful images we can come up with. So let's brainstorm and use our creative minds and collaborate to make something special. (This is going out to any models or anyone interesting in modelling in the New Jersey area.)
I've lost several members of my family over the years from cancer, and I want to do something that gives back to others, so let's have some fun, get creative and do this for other people! I feel like this can be something different to do and something special, so let's give it a shot!

PhotosI just submitted 2 photos that I took of my friends cat from early in March. It's the first time I have submitted anything, especially photography, in a veryyyyyyyy long time. I have 2 pages on facebook that you can check out to see my most recent stuff that I've done with friends and models in my area, (Toms River, New Jersey). I have a ton of photos, literally over 5,500 that I've taken since the beginning of the year since I got my camera for Christmas. I haven't had a camera in ages, and felt weird without one, but I may or may not submit more stuff. So if you see stuff trickling on in a much better quality then any of my previous photos, I hope you'll like what you see because now that I have a camera that can keep up with my visions and style I can now actually upload stuff that I'm proud of.
So in other words, this means if I do upload new stuff, I will probably phase out the old and remove any old ones from long long ago.
In other news, I did finish my big book. It's over 230,0
What If? and Photography!Almost done with What If?, after 4 long years, I have less than 1 chapter remaining. It's very humbling, but sad too. I'm nearing 900 pages and well over 200,000 words.
In other news, my photography business is very busy. I've done 2 big shoots over the last 2 weeks, a shoot today and a big shoot for a local rock band a week before this past Thursday. I won't be uploading photos on here unless they are silly random fun stuff, if I have the time (I'm a full time college student, and this semester I have 6 classes for 18 credits. The last 3 semesters I have had a perfect 4.0 GPA, I got inducted into Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society, and I finished my Liberal Arts degree in the fall semester, and finish my Social Science degree and get certified as a Teacher's Aide this spring. I walk for all 3 things in May.) so if I do upload stuff hopefully you like. Otherwise check out my photography page on facebook. It's titled WJ Photography, or William Joseph Photography. Enjoy!
Creating your own MangaIntroduction
You have a great story, a bunch of characters and you want to create a manga. However, where do you start? Do you have it Left->Right or Right->Left? How should you publish it (*note: some publishers may have additional requirements/restrictions)?
The process is pretty much the same for any graphic progression such as comics.
Luckily, there are a great number of tutorials to help you on your way.
A storyboard is a panel or series of panels which detail the sequence of significant events in a planned scene, i.e. a rough sketch coupled with some words to describe the actions in the scene.
At this point you'd need to have an idea of whether you are making a left->right or right->left manga.
Photoshop tutorial- PS basics 4I'm back with my journal tutorials for Photoshop. I didn't post any new journal tutorial in a while. Anyway, my previous tutorial you can check here. I'll describe some Photoshop basics for everyone who try to learn to use Photoshop. So in this article you'll find tutorials: Tilt-Shift, Customizing brush 2, Lens Flare, Mask Tool,.
If you wish to see images in full resolution then simply click on the images below (they are big 1920 x 1080 px). I used Photoshop CC here, so some things may be different in lower PS versions. But most of things may be the same in all PS versions. I'll make even more tutorials like this, so stay tuned. And if you like it, then you can fav this article. Thank you and enjoy. I hope it's helpful. More tutorials by me you can see in feature below.
PE: How to Scan and Adjust ImagesTutorial Time: How to scan and adjust images on Photoshop!
Hello everyone, welcome to this tutorial article of PE week!
well, you know, there is this youtube channel where there's lots of videos regaring tips, tricks and general advice for artists, and it is the best I've seen of the kind. But sadly, it is only in portuguese - hence why cinyu came up with the great idea of getting me to translate one of their videos!
I decided to pick up this one regarding scanning and adjusting images on photoshop, because that is one of the most basic, yet worst parts for many traditional artists. This tutorial is mostly for scanning black and white works, so it'll be more useful if you're working on manga/comic pages or inked art, but I hope it'll give you some ideas and help out in general on how scanning works.
I'll be translating the most important parts of the video, along with screenshots. Let's get started!
Things you'll need:
When It's HardHi folks! I realized in my most recent round of blogs that I've been a little quick to tell you all to put on your grown up panties, but this one is going to be a little different. Making art can be one of the most exhilarating things you'll ever do, but (and this is from personal experience also) 80% of the time you're going to fail. You'll spill your ink all over that glorious drawing. Oil from your hands will permanently stain only the portion of paper that was meant to remain a snowy white. Your computer's hard drive will crash or all your image files (all the WIPs especially) will get corrupted. You'll try something new and it just won't work out the way you envisioned. These things are the parts that aren't really spoken about enough, and so when they happen to us we assume that we're doing something terribly wrong. I'm here to tell you that we all go through these things and there's always a solution!
When you're not improving

How to render MMD videos like a pro!
The DeviantArt MMD community is notorious for its drama and mini-conflicts. It has also been the one in which I've encountered some of the rudest people on the Internet. However, I have also been rather fortunate in being able to become acquainted with some of the nicest, talented and knowledgeable people I've ever encountered anywhere. Many of these have graced my gallery with their visits, comments, encouragement and attentions. And a few, perhaps some of the most talented, have graciously given me access to hard to get models, exclusive previews of their MMD work and even insights into their methods of doing things.
Occasionally, I am gifted with real gems and this was the case when garmus1 dropped a note in my inbox the other night. Apart from the depth of knowledge that he gives into his methods, he's also given me permission to share that knowledge with the rest of the community.
Now, I know that some of you will have, after reading only

Amazing Art I Have Faved.December 28th 2008, I posted a news article featuring the best photography that I had in my faves gallery. This year, I want to go broader, so in my opinion the best works in all categories in my faves gallery. It is my 4 year anniversary of joining dA, so here is my own little way of celebrating, by bringing notice to all of these amazing works that I have thoroughly enjoyed. (Note: Deviations are not in any specific order, as in who's I fine more better etc, and there are some images with mature content.)

IowaIf you visit Iowa,
you'll call her fields empty,
but she wasn't born that way.
A part of her was carved out
when she was ripped between Virginia
and the purple mountains of New Mexico.
Her gold hair, she tore it out when she realized
it didn't make her a princess.
She laid her locks strung along every road
leading somewhere else.
White hairs on her cheeks
are scars from winter.
Her hair darkens with the dampness
of summer rains.
The storms are never silent,
but neither is life when there's a tear
in your childhood where
a parent ought to be.
I've been flooded by Iowa's sorrow.
The only way I can distract her from her own voided landscape
is if I hate myself harder than she cries.
She just wants to fly
and I want to bus or train,
not because I fear death, but because
I want to take living slow.
It's the only way I ever feel.
From the air it's hard to watch Earth's hips move.
But Earth can't compare to the country.
That's my girl.
Full grown even when harvesting season's j
To depression, for creating days without endWake up to the realization that you've been awake
for seconds, minutes, hours.
You've been awake in this warm, dark room
and you don't know how long it's been
but now you're conscious
and it starts again--
the pain, strong and steady, in your chest.
You gain consciousness in this too warm morning
and your thoughts whir in endless loops
because it's either that or face the weight in your chest.
Light breaks though the window, soft and unwelcome
but you take it as a reluctant gift--
a new distraction from the feelings awake in your chest.
Awake, but not conscious.
So you think yourself in circles a little while longer
waiting for those quiet pains
(the constant reminder)
to gain consciousness.
